The Beatles, born in the English port city of Liverpool, made their debut with “Love Me Do” on October 5, 1962, and broke up in 1970. ■Live Performance Period
The Beatles, who had been honing their skills as a live band since their amateur days, continued to increase their fan base through energetic live performances after their debut.
By 1963, the whole of England was in a frenzy. Fans inside and outside the concert hysterically screamed, and the word “Beatlemania” was even coined to describe their enthusiasm, making the Beatles a social phenomenon.
On November 1 of the same year, the Beatles appeared at the Royal Variety Show, hosted by the Royal Family. John made a satirical joke to the audience, “If you’re in the cheap seats, clap your hands; if you’re not, jingle your jewels.
In 1964, the band made its first appearance in the U.S., sparking a Beatlemania phenomenon that surpassed that of its home in England. The phenomenon in the U.S. spread to the rest of the world. He starred in the movie “The Beatles Are Coming! YEAH! YEAH! was released in various countries, spurring their popularity and finally conquering the world. Young people around the world began to liberate themselves by shouting at the Beatles.
During their U.S. tour in August 1965, they held their first ever concert in an outdoor stadium to accommodate as many people as possible at once. As the venues became larger, huge amplifiers were developed to withstand them.
Despite their explosive popularity, the Beatles themselves were beginning to question their emphasis on live performances, as they believed that the Beatles’ reason for existence was to create and perform music, but their fans only screamed for a false image of the Beatles and would not listen to the music. The song “Help,” written in 1965, was the latent cry of the four men who were struggling with these contradictions.
In 1966, John’s comment that “The Beatles are more popular than Christ” triggered a boycott of the Beatles, mainly by dedicated Christians in the U.S. During the U.S. tour, there were even threats against the lives of the band members.
Feeling the limits of their ability to continue touring due to various obstacles, the Beatles never stood in front of an audience again after their San Francisco concert on August 29, 1966.

■Personalization Period

■Breakup
The four members, who had been working more and more as solo artists, held their last live performance as the Beatles on the roof of Apple on January 30, 1969, and produced the album “Abbey Road” in a final show of unity.
